The Communication Technology Laboratory, or ComTechLab, is a
multimedia production facility which is open to students,
faculty and staff producing work of an academic nature. Our
laboratory facilities house a quarter of a million dollars
of media equipment and represents a commitment to
maintaining a workshop in which students and faculty alike
may develop and maintain their media production
skills.
Who Can Use It?
Preference is given to students currently enrolled in Communication Studies production courses. Also, students who are in a class in which the supervisor has committed the labs support may also use the equipment and facilities. General student use is allowed provided they have received training on the equipment and such use does not conflict with the students defined above.
What If I Need Help?
Students or faculty who need media production work done but do not
have the knowledge to do that work themselves may request such work
done by the ComTechLab. All such work will be done based on the
availability of time and crew under a payment schedule as outlined in
the Communication
Technology Laboratory Rate Card. Students doing work themselves can request help from lab consultants but such help should be limited to a basic tutorial on equipment operation and/or specific questions related to specific operations.
